National Incident Management System (NIMS)

In 2005, the District of Columbia formally adopted the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS is a comprehensive national approach to incident management, applicable at all jurisdictional levels and across functional disciplines. NIMS will improve the effectiveness of emergency response providers and incident management organizations across a full spectrum of potential incidents and hazard scenarios.

For more information about NIMS compliance, see The Ten Disciplines that Must Comply With NIMS*.
